Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 16

Pink & Yellow

Still catching up with yellow this week.

How do YOU make your FQWAL blocks?  Me?  Well, I usually decide on colors first.

When I was going through all the color combinations I've used so far, I realized I hadn't done pink & yellow together yet.  So I went searching for a good block.  And when I turned to this page and THE WORLD CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT.

See, I bought this magazine a little while ago.

And this lovely block by the Happy Zombie just so happens to be in it.

In fact, it was reading about it on her blog that made me go buy the issue!

Now, you all know how much I love pink, right?  And in case you didn't know, the very first quilt I ever made was a Grandmother's Flower Garden hexagon quilt.  So when Monica - the ordained minister of all things quilty- married two of my all-time favorite elements together in a block (pink PLUS hexies) ... well ... to continue with the analogy, honeymoon!

Or should I say ...

#49 - HoneyCOMB

I messed around a bit with the layout.  I wanted it to look more Happy Zombie-ish.  :)

# 14 - Butterfly at the Crossroads

I.LOVE.THIS.BLOCK.  It makes me feel very happy.  I even like the little accidental paisley bubble in the top right corner.  ( I SWEAR I didn't fussy cut it!)

(And yes, that's a nasty little scorch mark on the bottom left butterfly ... I have a love/hate relationship with my iron.  Every once in a while it likes to remind me who's boss.  Clearly, not me.)

Your yellow & pink blocks are adorable. And I like your honeycomb layout a lot better than the one in the book;-)

Gorgeous blocks! I think your iron needs a good talking to!

Love the pink and yellow combination. And what is it about irons? I can never get along with mine. It's either too hot or too cold or too slow or too heavy or too light or too whatever! I don't think they make a good iron anymore!

These are the sweetest little blocks of the project yet! I love how you got to incorporate your pink lemonade in them. Little girls with pink lemonade, cupcakes, and butterflies. I'm in love! :)

I love the pink and yellow - I could almost be tempted to use yellow after seeing how pretty it is with the pink. My iron likes to spit dirty brown water every so oftern - and of course it always happens on pale fabric!

As always, beautiful blocks, I love the pink and yellow. I am not seeing the scorch mark...... you gotta stop telling us about these little boo boo's :)

LOVE your blocks - Butterfly At The Crossroads is my very favorite Farmer's Wife block (not that I'm doing it, but I love peeking at everyone's awesome blocks!) and yours is amazing!

Oh you sweetheart!!!! Ooops, I almost called you sweatheat, LOL. I amuse myself when I'm typing. Anyhoo… you sweetheart you! Thank you for all the lovin's, you have no idea how much it means to me. And you make me look so dang good, too!

Love your blocks, and yours are my fave in all the FWQAL. You even inspired me to pull all my Flower Sugar fabrics out of the cupboard and put them on my worktable - and for about 3 minutes I toyed with the notion of stating the FWQAL over in Flower Sugar. And then I remembered I had already done 18 blocks - and need to get crackin' on those first! Oh what you do to me, Kristyne!

Love, Love, Love your pink and yellow blocks!! I'm not much of a yellow fan like you, but when yellow is paired with pink...it's just so sweet!

Oh... I am loving your pretty little blocks in Flower Sugar. And the Pink Lemonade blocks, I'm am in love! I think I might just have to round up some more Flower Sugar fabric just to make a whole quilt in pink and yellow. Yum Yum!

Beautiful blocks! Love how yours are turning out!!! Your blocks are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. perfect spot on perfection! How are you making them? Hand piecing or machine? Templates or paper piecing? How do you get them to come out so perfect? Love them - and they are tiny, right? You are doing a smaller version? If you ever have time to talk about how you are making them, I would love to read about it! :O) Bari Jo

Pink and yellow are always lovely together! I'm making mine in numerical order, because I'm easily confused :) and doing them in order makes it easy to keep up with how many I've done! Also, I can't cheat with making all the easy blocks first LOL . I choose the fabric from there...I'm using a jelly roll of Rose Parade as the base, with polkadots and white Kona cotton added.
You make me wish I had used Flower Sugar though :)

I found your blog about thirty minutes ago and I'm enjoying it thoroughly! We are transitioning through a move currently but when we get settled in and I can quilt again I'm going to order a Clover mini iron. Have you considered using one on your pretty little blocks? Just a thought :) I'm going to go read some more now...
