Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 50

No color theme ... I think the rest of my blocks will be done all higgledy piggledy.

Block #96 - Tulip

There's a very good reason I haven't made this block sooner ... I just.don't.get.it.  I admit it.  Where, exactly, is the tulip?  I mean, yes the 2 parallelograms in the middle can be interpreted as the blossom, but I don't get the rest of it.

And the asymmetrical fabric choices in the book?

I don't get it.

I always thought I'd find a way to assign order and balance ... but I'm as surprised as you are that I ended up going all PICASSO with my version too!

This is not like me at all.  (Although I couldn't stop myself from at least putting green along the bottom for leaves.)

And I'm even more astonished that I like my tulip!

Block # 84 - Spool

For such a simple block, it caused me a lot of anxiety.

Until I noticed this print in my stash (that I've only used for the gingham and a few wreaths) ...

and got the idea to make my spool look like it had eyelet lace wrapped around it.

I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I am Zita from Hungary, I have just found your blog and I fell in love with your cute pencil cases. I sew too in my spare time and I especially love making pencil cases as I am a big pencil case fan and collector too. Is it possible to reachyou by e-mail and order one cute pencil case and speak about the details?

Looking fabulous. It almost makes me want to open my case of FW fabrics. Almost! Some day soon though. Have a great day.

I love both blocks but am with you on the lack of tulip in the sample tulip block!

Don't get the tulip thing either. But it doesn't matter I love your blocks! Hildy

Ya - I don't get that tulip pattern either.... but I loved how you went 'all Picaso' with it LOL! And the spool - to die for - love how you wrapped it with lace... soooo cute! I love how you are going all higgledy piggeldy with it! I bet they will look great with all the other blocks - that is going to be some FW quilt!

I don't get the tulip block either, but it sure works with your magic touches!!! That lemonade from lemons thing I guess! Just lovely, and in with the other blocks,a nice touch.

I always love you fabric choices...and today is no exception! But with the Tulip block I see the leaves as being where you have the yellow and grey fabric! That would make the pink and blue the budding tulip!

The tulip block may be a little confusing, but it's certainly pretty! Can I ask what fabric you used for the lace on your spool? I absolutely love it!
