Farmer's Wife Quilt Along Week 47

Red, Pink, Yellow & White

While reviewing my nerd sheet for this week's colors I was surprised this combination had escaped me!  Wohooo!!! Something new. :)

#44 - Gentleman's Fancy

I waffled sooo many times on the colors for this block.  I thought I'd do it in "boy" colors ... blue & gray.

But as much as I like to invent SOME sort of meaning or purpose or story to my blocks, this one came out this way because a) it could handle 4 colors and b) I was in the mood for something easy after ...

#95 - Temperance Tree

... THIS 41-piece monster!

Now, IF I were to make this block again ... and chances of that ever happening are slim-to-none ... and Slim just rode out of town on his horse ... I'd change the yellow triangles to white.  I like the tree-type blocks to look really graphic.  I threw the yellow in there out of necessity.

I'm ok with the results, just not over the moon happy with it.

Brave you - to have tackled Temperance Tree - so many pieces! I do love your Gentleman's Fancy block. The fussy cut center is too precious!

I love your fussy cut rose in gentleman's fancy! This whole block looks like a picture frame. I like the yellow in 'piece-monster' so I'm glad you're not going to change it!
But I'm really sad that you didn't have a block story this week because I loooove them.

Beautiful, as always! I just started the FWQ last month and we are starting with the easiest blocks and progressively moving up to the hardest ones. #95 is scaring me a bit...Good job though! I love your color scheme!

I like Gentleman's fancy - it's like he is bringing her a bouquet of flowers! And are you kidding me - 41 tinsy winsy pieces!!! You are a brave woman... I think I will pay you to make my block for me when the time comes.... hey - guess what - I am so excited - I saw that Lecien is bringing back an antique flower sugar soon - I am soooo excited since I am late to the Lecien flower sugar party (ie don't have ANY) and was so disappointed to miss out after seeing your amaizng blocks - I am glad they are bringing in some soft colors!!!!!) ok - rabbit trail there! I still can't get over your tree block... those must be microscopic pieces! You are amazing! (as usual!) :O)

ps - me again... if I were to get my hands on some new Lecien fabrics - would a fat quarter bundle make all the blocks for a Farmer's Wife quilt? I have NO idea how to figure that out... I do have the book, etc and have been playing around with the 6 inch squares with my scraps.... what would YOU do? How much would you buy? Inquiring minds want to know! I remember your blocks are smaller - which I love... how much do you think you will end up using for your smaller quilt blocks - any idea how many blocks total you will end up with and the size of the finished quilt yet? :O) (sorry I am making you work today!)

Well, when I look at your Temperance Tree I see a lovely young lady in a pretty floral print dress... and hat... and stockings... walking down a white path through a garden of pink and yellow flowers. Either it's a flower garden or she's wearing a puffy sleeved jacket, or holding her shawl out to catch the breeze... Not a tree at all. :)

And Gentleman's Fancy, well maybe it's a corsage in a pretty box which he is taking to the lady he 'fancies' ready for their date?

As with everyone else the fussy cut centre is perfect.. Wouldn't white be tooooo much for the red tree. Both blocks look great. Thanks for the heads up about this block - enough to drive you to drink.
