Pretty Pencil Case

Today is the first day of school for us and I'm happy knowing both my girls will have a little something made with love from me in their desks ...

You see, fairsies math rules in my house.  So just because I bought little sister's backpack doesn't mean I can't make her a pretty pencil case too.

Lecien's Flower Sugar fabric.  I know.  You're totally shocked. ;)  She picked them.  She wanted polka dots to go with her backpack.   She was sooooo happy when I told her she could have it because it was in the "forbidden" pile with my FWQAL fabrics.

FYI, the polka dot/floral/stripe is one print ... no piecing required!  I love using unusual stripes like this.  Can you say "cheater panel" at its finest? :)

I LOVE this print.  However, I can't use it for my FWQAL blocks because the print is too big.

But it's absolutely PERFECT for a sweet little Grade 3er's pencil case!

Did you notice my boo boo with the lining?  When I was cutting out a piece of batting, somehow the lining got stuck to the batting underneath and I didn't notice it until it was too late.  So I had to piece it ...

I still have a few more back to school projects to show you next week.

If you woudn't say a word about the mistake I wouldn't have notice it. Even after I know there's one I have to search for it.
I love the 'cheating' pencil case, it's beautiful altough I'm shocked by the flower sugar fabric;-)
You have two lucky girls that's for sure.
But now be honerst: you show us the school project because you won't show us the finished 'Big Dream' because then project simplify is over, right? I can totally understand you and becuase my project simplify 1.2 is only halfway finished (1.2.1 is finioshed but then I got the idea about 1.2.2) I don't mind. Take your time!

The FORBIDDEN pile??!! I guess you do love your little munchkins. Besides, how could you say 'no' when she has good taste?? You have to encourage that while they are young and impressionable. ;0

Oh, I'm with you...I love the big print of this fabric. It's so beautiful! I was thinking the same as Ina...ah, a mother's love. Only a mom would give from her forbidden pile! I really, really love the scrap used inside. It doesn't feel like a mistake to me at all. When I make mine (after you write up and sell the pattern *ahem*), I'm going to go scrappy inside just 'cause! :) LOVE it!!!

There you go again. And all I'm doing these days is pulling bushes, carrying brush, and readying the patio for an additional slab and then a pergola. I'd rather be quilting! Beautiful pencil case and lucky daughters! And once again, I'll agree with the others and BEG for a pattern. Pretty please?

That is adorable, I love the other one you made too :)

I have this fabric and 2 grandaughters. Can I learn how to make this pencil case? I'm afraid of zippers. Please adopt me as their grandma too! You are indeed blessed with talent. I have forbidden fabric too, but way too much.

Am making these from your pattern, but finding the ends are too small when I come to attach them. Should the pattern piece have a seam allowance added?
thanks
