Daisychain Sampler "B"

At the risk of being rude, I didn't like this letter ... at first.  Lemme 'splain.

Compared to all the other letters in this alphabet sampler - which I would describe as romantic, feminine, antique, etc. - B just sorta looked out of place to me.

I didn't get it - which is not altogether unusual.  I often arrive late to the party.

I just kept thinking about this movie from 1980.

Now don't get me wrong.  I have a VERY strong sentimental attachment to Xanadu - or more specifically the soundtrack.  LOVE ELO!  You can go ahead and make fun of me.  I don't mind.  It will just make me feel sorry for you that you can't appreciate the total awesomeness of this song.

But back to the letter ... it just didn't say Daisychain Sampler to me.  I even contemplated coming up with a different design.

Then suddenly the heavens opened and I had a moment of clarity.  It's not electric disco, you doofus who still spends WAY too much time in the 80s, it's CLASSIC ART DECO ... as in the Chrysler Building!

Just gotta spin it for myself sometimes and then I'm all good. :)

How do you like me now?  Darlin' I like you just fine.  ;)

Again, pattern available here and COSMO floss available here ... just sayin'.

And now I'm going to hit replay on that video like 10 more times and sing & dance in ways that make my husband so embarrassed to admit he knows me, let alone married me.

You know what? It reminds me of the scallope line in Camille's Sugar Rush. And your colors are cotton candy and softice, yummy;-) Now I'm hungry ...

Too funny! You're right, though. I hadn't noticed it before, but if you relate it back to the techno 80's vibe, it does look a little retro. However, your finished B is a beauty to behold. Nothing retro bout it =)

Is it possible to spend too much time in the 80's? The playlist on my mp3 player says "No". :)

Your B is lovely and could still be electric disco! Nothing wrong with the '80's music. Now I'm going to play that video clip again and listen to it while I tidy up my kitchen....just boogeying along....Have a great day!

Are sure we didn't live close to each other when we were younger? Or maybe all of us of a certain age were totally into the 80's :)
Xanadu...such good memories!

I want to go back and live in the eighties!!
Actually it reminds me of Biba the boutique famous in London during the '60's & '70's, I've now probably put you off it again!

My son (playing with playdoh) kept saying "WHAT IS THAT?!?" to the 80's video.....the other one, if he hadn't been napping, would probably be dancing with you. I was just in shock with all the hair! HAHA!

Thanks for sharing, you're a kick in the pants!

Oh,,,,the 80s were fun! ;0 I still exercise to Journey. Yep. ;0

The 'B' looks like a 'round-about' used to control traffic in England. Or, as we discovered, used to help clueless tourists(like us) figure out where they want to turn. Our mantra became: go around one complete time to see all of the 'available choices' and then on the 2nd time around pick an exit. ;0

I love Xanadu! And as a New Yorker, the Chrysler building is just in my blood. Thanks for the memories... and your stitching looks great, too.

Oh yeah baby -- it's one of those nights when I feel the fire burning.

Ahem.

That song's gonna be burned in my head all night.

Thanks.

I LOVE Xanadu! I recently gave my (beloved) VCR copy of the movie to my daughter (turning 30 in November) so she could see what we were watching when she was little. She and her husband both asked "what were they smoking?" Think I'll take the movie back -- I need to watch it! :)

Ah thats what husbands and children are for, to embarrass them.I can see where you are coming from with the "b" on the pattern but when its all stitched it looks great.

Did you see the stage musical of Xanadu? I don't remember laughing so hard at anything! It was really really good! I hadn't seen the movie first so had to watch it. It wasn't as bad as everyone said....

Well now, don't hate me but I totally meant it to be 80s! Or I guess I actually thought it was more groovy 70s. Either way, you made it look great! :-)

My favourite ELO album was TIME. Must have listened to that thing a thousand times in the 80s, bought the CD reissue too.
