sweetly stitched handmades

Life is fun when you have a very talented friend who writes a sewing book. :)  I managed to steal a few hours the other day to make a "simple zippered patchwork pouch" from Sweetly Stitched Handmades.  It took me longer to pull the fabrics than it did to make it!

This case is everything you would expect from a nanaCompany creation - easy, quick, and adorable.  I'm super busy right now with, so even though I prefer the look of hand quilting - a love that Amy and I share - I cheated a little and machine quilted mine.  I cheated a bit more too with a pre-made label instead of a lovely hand-embroidered one.  Still, this pouch turned out pretty darned cute.

Thank you, dear Amy!

Perfect pretty pink pouch! And of course, pulling fabrics is always what took the longest, isn't it? Can't wait to have Amy's book and make some pretty things:-)

I particularly love the way the linen keeps the pink from drowning in sweetness while still being uber-feminine. Lovely fabric choices!

You have inspired me so I pre-ordered Ms. Amy's book. Just found her blog and yours in the past week and can't get enough! You both make me so happy! So now I am on a quest to restart my stash of all sweet, gently colored, zippy, and pastel fabrics. I have some old ones but through your work found Atsuko Matsuyama's fabrics and knew the joys of early Walt Disney movies that I saw as a child. Thank you!

I just love the fabrics you use. They all coordinate so well together. Pinks are definitely my fav color too. I was thinking back to the quilt you made that was so beautiful with all the little hexies, put into diamond shapes. Can you please share with me the name of the pattern you used. I just loved that quilt. Thanks!!

Lovely pink fabric choices and a lovely fabric pouch. Since it is a pouch, it is probable more practical machine quilted.

VERY darned cute! I love too that you have a pair of the Sajou scissors I have been dreaming of lately. If I am very nice to my husband before my birthday or carefully save my pocket money ...

My favorite color is green but I have an odd quirk...I almost always have to include all colors of the rainbow in my projects! Yes all of Roy G Biv in his wonderful glory has to be in my projects! I'm obessed with rainbows. I feel bad leaving any of the colors out...I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings ;)
