packing

The next person who suggests I "just get rid of" all my 6 years' worth of Martha Stewart magazines, including the special issues ...

... gets it with a glue gun.

Just sayin'.

Ahhhh, another treasured magazine collector! I simply cannot part with my Martha Stewart or Victoria magazines. I COMPLETELY understand :)

I used to love my magazine collection but I ran out of space and now the only collection I have is online. I'ts far from having the actual magazines but I do enjoy it's accessibility and portability.

We're packing up our house for a move out to the country and while I'm very critical of what my family members are trying to pack to cart along, they have each learned that "suggesting" about what I am taking, including my MS magazines, will lead to an early death. They've backed off, for now!

Happy packing!!

No way would I get in the way of a girl and her Martha Stewart. Take what you want and what makes you happy. I need to move just to clean out the clutter. Ok, so I'm not moving, but maybe I will pretend. Good luck with the move. And love the idea of the auction.

Get rid of your Martha Stewart magazines!

YOU KEEP THOSE MAGS!!!

(I have 25 years' worth of Quilter's Newsletter and Threads, and every issue of American Patchwork and Quilting and Quilt Sampler :D )

If needed, I will hold someone down while you heat up the glue gun.

HA! I'm just now healing from a bad glue gun blister, but you wouldn't get an argument out of me on this matter anyway!

I did have to put my foot down recently though. I now only save a magazine no older than five years. I've moved 20 times in 33 years of marriage and sometimes, some things just must go. However, I always remove the goodies and file them for future inspiration!

Happy highways,
Kelley~

Awwwww, just enjoyed that, laughing because I can SO relate. Good for you! Hold on to your Martha magazines. She's just the best.

Love it! Hahaha!!! :)
I have every issue ever published of Sew Beautiful, Australian Smocking, Creative Needle and Ottobre. I never get tired of reading them. I also have a vast collection of quilting fabric, vintage chenille, antique lace, ribbons, thread, vintage buttons.... you know me. I'm like most of you. The last time anyone mentioned anything to me about my collections I told them they would be removed from my creative beneficiary list. Now they offer to build me more shelves:-) Congratulations on your new home. I am so excited for you!

PS. Liz N, I have threads magazine envy. I would love to have all your collections added to mine. You are a wise investor Liz N!

Good grief, who could even consider that!!
I regularly use them to get inspiration and techniques. They are an invaluable reference. I have all editions of a number of magazines.

This is the first time I have commented in a blog !

I am totally inspired and comforted by all the loveliness in your blog and eagerly await each page

DO NOT get rid of those mags. I also have too many and try to part with one or two every now and then but it is so difficult. If they comfort you, keep'em. Build more storage/shelving...that is what I am trying to do. I have a problem with books too...rather serious. Even my Pinterest boards are becoming overloaded !

Stick to your guns. We are getting ready to move and under pressure I threw out ALL my magazines. I was prepared to part with a lot, but I went too far. I should have kept the precious ones. I'm sure you will find somewhere to keep them and will be so pleased in the long run.

Oh my gosh, NEVER! ;-) xo

OUCH !!! Good plan ! I "got rid " of SOME of mine and have lived to regret it! You are doing the "right thing" . Martha rocks...especially for "good things"!

I want Dawn's collection of Australian Smocking. We once had a visitor who cut flowers out of my Victorias for a thank you note for our hospitality. It was hard to be nice and she hasn't been back. Do you think someone told her you don't mess with mama's mags?
Noooo.....you would be sorry later. I don't have Martha, I always went over to my mom's and looked at hers. I do however , have boxes of Victoria and Sew Beautiful. I may not "need" them all right now but, some day I will go through them and pick out the ones I can't part with. I at least know I can donate the Sew Beautiful to my sewing group where I would still have access to them.

I didn't say it but I would be recovering from burns if I had because I am just not a keeper of magazines. I love bits and pieces of them but in my stage of life they just aren't practical to keep. I never seem to flip back through them. You did write a priceless blog entry though! Carry on!

I used to have that problem with Martha AND Oprah! Then the show "Hoarders" came on TV (yikes!), then I got an iPad and started reading online. Still, I couldn't bear to part with those glossy pages of joy until a friend suggested I take the mags to a Senior Center...I did and BOY were those Ladies happy! Who knew? So now when I do splurge on a mag or two or three I know they will be much loved down the road when I'm ready to part with them! Baby steps, baby steps...

Kristyne - It came today! Hooray - it is as lovely & precious as I thought it would be! I love, love, LOVE it! <3

they will be collectors items one day.
Trust me.
My sister found a boatload of old Life Magazine and some other really old snazzy magazines in her attic.
The bought her house from two olden folks that moved to FLA
Anyway the magazines were dated 1950's
