Project Simplify - Day 32

Okay.  It's official.  "Moonlight" is a keeper.

Blue is his favorite color and there are soooo many pink & girly quilts in this house.  The guy deserves one that ... well ... he likes for reasons OTHER than because his wife made it.

So much for going traditional with this quilt ... despite using prints like a fine houndstooth, classic acanthus leaf, delicate florals and a sweet plaid, this quilt looks really modern to me.

About the name - my helper & I talked about where you can draw inspiration from when choosing a name.  We focused on the colors & shapes.  I suggested "Arctic Circles", but she's only in Grade 2 and informed me that, "I haven't learned anything about that in school yet, Mummy."  Her sister suggested "Dancing Circles", but again the assistant explained to us - with all possible conviction of an 8 year old - that didn't make any sense AT ALL because the straight lines in the quilt would not allow any dancing to go on.  (I love hearing their thought processes .. kids are so funny!)

So "Moonlight" it is.

I had quite a bit more back-piecing to do for this one than the previous two Project Simplify quilts.  I just used up a bunch of fabric pieces that came in the "Glace" kit.  (Yay!)

Next week ... pillows!

It's perfect! Love the name and the fabrics and the modern feel. It's works so well with the cross-hatch quilting! I love free-motion quilting, but sometimes the cross-hatching is just plain better. Your take on this quilt has made me decide to add this one to my growing list of patterns to make!

"Moonlight" is such a soothing and calming quilt. Great job and so glad you posted a photo of the entire quilt.
Can't wait to see what is next.....

LOVE it, Kristyne, this is really a beautiful quilt and I don't blame your hubby for wanting to keep it. It does look modern, but also very traditional with the blue and soft white.

This is a really lovely quilt. I think the crosshatching provides a nice contrast to the circles. Have a good weekend!

I love the cool blue color. Yep, Moon Light works and hubby has a quilt that isn't pink. I say you've had a very productive week...go have fun this weekend! :0

Love how Moonlight turned out....not that I am partial to Roman Holiday! Me being a pink girl also was happy with the hubs that he agreed to let me make our bedroom quilt with this line. Didn't get a chance to comment the other day about the Amityville Horror book reference..but again believe we must have been friends a long time before I found your blog...I was fascinated in my early teens with that book! Well, this quilt did it! I am going to buy this book now. The one in the book pics was nice, but your cream and blue version is perfect.

Do you embroider the quilt's name, your name and the date on all your quilts? Your work is CLEARLY heirloom worthy, and I envision someone (possibly your great-grandchildren) owning these someday and knowing each of your beautiful quilts by the names you've given them. On another note, your blog has inspired me to start quilting/sewing again after nearly 20 years. I've always dabbled in sewing/quilting/cross-stitching/knitting/crocheting and have several completed projects (and probably 5 times as many unfinished ones), but having 5 kids over a span of 18 years, it felt like I always had little kids running around, and not much time to work on anything. We recently moved from NJ to Colorado, and my youngest started kindergarten this year, so finally I am going to spend some time on my own passions (I'm also going to add embroidery to my list, and that daisy chain sampler will be my first project...today I ordered the Cosmo colors you used)! THANK YOU for the lovely inspiration!
